Quick backstory about me ... I was someone who cluelessly dabbled in sports betting and had no idea what I was doing. Sometimes I'd get lucky and win, more often than not I would lose more than I won, and I was moderately entertaining on the Artist Formerly Known as Twitter (follow here).
Then one day the team at Break the Odds reached out to me and asked if I'd be interested in joining their team. To be honest, I had absolutely no clue was "+EV betting" even meant, but I was up to try anything. Fast forward a couple years and I'm now up 600 betting units by following their betting principles. What is +EV betting anyway? In it's simplest description, it is exloiting the mathematical odds of the betting markets. So instead of placing a bet because "I think Ohtani is gonna go OFF tonight!" you are instead using the principle "Ohtani's line of over 1.5 total bases is -135 at Fanduel, -140 at Draftkings and happens to be +100 at MGM." In this instance, you bet on Ohtani to go over 1.5 total bases on MGM, not because you "think he's gonna have a good game," but because MGM is way off the rest of the rest of the market. Sportsbooks spend MILLIONS to get their odds just right, so +EV betting is simply about finding the times they screw up!
